About This PharmCAS GPA Calculator
This PharmCAS GPA calculator is built for pharmacy school applicants who need to estimate the standardized GPA views commonly reviewed in Pharm.D. admissions: Overall GPA, Science GPA, Non-Science GPA, Mathematics GPA, and Prerequisite GPA. It also converts quarter-hour coursework into semester hours using the standard PharmCAS approach.
How to Use the PharmCAS GPA Calculator
Follow these steps for an accurate PharmCAS GPA result
1Enter Every Graded College Course Attempt
Add every graded course attempt from every college or university you attended. PharmCAS counts all institutions and includes repeated coursework instead of replacing the earlier grade.
2Choose the Right Subject Category
Classify each course into Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Other Science, or Non-Science. Those subject choices determine what counts toward your PharmCAS science GPA, math GPA, and non-science GPA.
3Standardize Quarter Hours Into Semester Hours
If a course was taken on a quarter system, switch the row to Quarter units. The calculator automatically converts quarter hours into semester hours using the official PharmCAS factor of 0.667.
4Mark Prerequisite Courses Separately
Use the prerequisite toggle for classes you want included in a pharmacy-school prerequisite GPA estimate. This helps you isolate the coursework many Pharm.D. programs review closely.
5Review Overall and Science Metrics Together
Use the summary cards to compare Overall GPA, Science GPA, Non-Science GPA, Math GPA, and Prerequisite GPA before applying. PharmCAS verification may still differ if the official service classifies coursework differently from your estimate.
PharmCAS Grade Conversion Scale
PharmCAS uses its own standardized 4.0 grade scale, even if your college uses a different internal grade-point mapping for transcript GPA.
PharmCAS GPA Types Explained
Overall GPA
Includes all graded coursework from all institutions after standardizing credits to semester hours. This is the main PharmCAS cumulative GPA most applicants look at first.
Science GPA
Includes Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Other Science categories. Many pharmacy schools pay especially close attention to this GPA.
Non-Science GPA
Includes coursework outside the science categories, such as humanities, languages, business, and social sciences.
Math GPA
Separates mathematics coursework so you can evaluate your quantitative profile the way some Pharm.D. programs do.
Prerequisite GPA
Includes only the courses you explicitly flag as pharmacy-school prerequisites, which is useful because required courses vary by program.
Academic-Year View
PharmCAS also reviews academic progression by year, so freshman-to-senior trends can matter alongside the final cumulative number.
How PharmCAS Calculates GPA
1The Formula
PharmCAS GPA = Ξ£ (Semester-Standardized Credits Γ Grade Points)
Ξ£ Semester-Standardized Credits
Quarter-hour classes are first converted into semester hours, then quality points are calculated and averaged across all attempted coursework in that GPA bucket.
2Key PharmCAS Rules
- β’All attempts count, including repeated courses.
- β’All institutions count, not just the school where you currently study.
- β’Quarter hours are converted into semester hours using 0.667 before GPA is computed.
- β’Failed courses stay in the calculation, even if your institution has its own forgiveness or replacement policy.
- β’Science and Math are separated, so category choices affect more than one GPA bucket.
