What if the required score is over 100%?

A result above 100% means your desired grade is mathematically impossible given your current scores and the remaining exam weight. To fix this, lower your target grade until the required final score falls within 0–100%. Alternatively, check whether any assignment grades can be improved (e.g., resubmissions, extra credit) before the final.

What if the result is negative or zero?

A zero or negative required score means you have already achieved your target grade even if you score 0% on the final. That said, earning as high a score as possible on the final is still advisable — it can push you into a higher grade band or strengthen your Texas Christian University GPA.

What grading scale does Texas Christian University use?

Texas Christian University's configured scale starts with A+ worth 4.0 grade points and includes A = 4.0, A- = 3.67, B+ = 3.33, B = 3.0, and B- = 2.67. The zero-point grade is F. The scale includes plus and minus grade options. TCU's official undergraduate key lists A = 4.00, A- = 3.67, B+ = 3.33, B = 3.00, B- = 2.67, C+ = 2.33, C = 2.00, C- = 1.67, D+ = 1.33, D = 1.00, D- = 0.67, and F = 0.00. Use your course syllabus for percentage cutoffs whenever the school leaves those boundaries to individual instructors.

How to Use the TCU Final Exam Calculator

Follow these steps for an accurate Final Exam result

1Enter Your Completed Assignment Grades

Add every graded item you have received back so far — midterms, homework averages, quizzes, lab reports, and projects. For each entry, provide the assignment name, the grade you received (as a percentage), and the weight it carries in the final course grade. Check your TCU course syllabus for the exact weights; they should sum to 100% including the final exam.

2Set the Final Exam Weight

Enter the percentage of your total TCU course grade that the final exam is worth. Common values are 30–50%, though some TCU courses weight the final as high as 60%. Once you set this, the current completed-assignments weight and the final exam weight together should total 100%.

3Enter Your Desired Course Grade

Type in the course grade percentage you want to achieve. If you are targeting a letter grade, use the percentage boundaries in your Texas Christian University course syllabus; the table on this page provides the configured grade-point mapping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about calculating GPA at TCU
