About This 4.5 GPA Calculator

The US 4.5 Honors scale assigns grade points from 4.5 (A in Honors) down to 0.0 (F), then weights each by credit hours to compute your cumulative GPA. This calculator is pre-loaded with the Honors grade-to-point mapping β€” no manual setup needed. It opens in Weighted Honors mode by default and supports multiple semesters, a What-If planning mode, and local save/export. All data stays in your browser with no server involvement.

How to Use the 4.5 GPA Calculator

Follow these steps for an accurate GPA result

1Start in Weighted Honors Mode

The calculator opens in Weighted mode by default β€” the correct setting for a 4.5-scale GPA. In Weighted mode, Honors courses earn +0.5 bonus points over the standard grade point (e.g., an A in an Honors course scores 4.5 instead of 4.0). On the 4.5 scale, all courses are treated as Honors. The toggle at the top of the calculator lets you switch to Unweighted if you need a direct comparison.

2Enter Your Honors Courses

Each semester starts with three course rows, all defaulting to Honors type. Click "Add Course" to add more. For each course, optionally type a name, set the credit hours, and pick your letter grade from the US scale. The grade point assigned is the Honors-weighted value β€” A earns 4.50, Aβˆ’ earns 4.20, B+ earns 3.80, and so on up to the 4.5 ceiling.

3Add All Your Semesters

Click "Add Semester" to add as many terms as you need. The calculator computes both per-semester Honors GPA and your running cumulative GPA across all semesters as you type. You can rename each semester (e.g., "Fall 2024") to keep your records organised.

4Review Your 4.5 GPA Result

The result card shows your cumulative GPA out of 4.5, total credit hours, total courses, and a performance label. Because the scale tops out at 4.5, a result near 4.3–4.5 reflects a near-perfect Honors record. Use the What-If button to save your current data and safely model how a planned grade would change your GPA without losing your real entries.

5Save, Download, or Share

Click "Save" to store your GPA result locally in your browser β€” nothing sent to a server. Use the download button to export as a formatted PDF or PNG image. The share button copies a summary link you can send directly from your phone.

Pro Tips

  • Use What-If mode to experiment with future grades β€” click the What-If button to snapshot your current GPA, then add or edit courses to see how planned grades would raise or lower it. Hit ↩ Restore to go back to your real data anytime
  • Save your result and download as PDF to keep for scholarship or transfer applications
  • Add all semesters at once β€” cumulative gpa is calculated automatically
