About This UC GPA Calculator
This UC GPA Calculator applies the University of California's A-G grade-point rules to the coursework entered. It reports UC unweighted GPA, UC weighted-capped GPA, and a fully weighted GPA so applicants can see how eligible honors semesters affect each result.
UC uses grades from the summer after ninth grade through the summer after eleventh grade, ignores pluses and minuses, and limits the weighted-capped calculation to eight honors points, including no more than four from grade-10 coursework. Because residency and course approval matter, verify A-G and honors designations before relying on the estimate.
How to Use the UC GPA Calculator
Follow these steps for an accurate UC GPA result
1Choose Your Residency
Select California resident or nonresident because UC applies different honors-course rules when checking the minimum GPA.
2Add A-G Semester Grades
Enter each A-G semester grade earned from the summer after ninth grade through the summer after eleventh grade. Use the base letter for plus or minus grades.
3Identify Eligible Honors Courses
Choose regular, UC-certified honors, AP, UC-approved IB, or UC-transferable college coursework. Verify each designation using official UC resources.
4Compare the Three UC GPAs
Review your unweighted, weighted-capped, and fully weighted estimates, then check the minimum-GPA and no-grade-below-C indicators.
Understanding Your Three UC GPA Results
UC unweighted GPA
Uses A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, and F=0 for every included A-G semester, with no honors additions.
UC weighted-capped GPA
Adds eligible honors points, capped at eight total and four from grade-10 coursework. UC uses this measure for the systemwide minimum-GPA check.
Fully weighted GPA
Adds every eligible honors point without the eight-semester cap. Campuses may consider an uncapped measure during selection.
Review UC's official GPA calculation instructions, confirm courses through the A-G subject requirements, and check the separate nonresident guidance.
